India may become the fourth country in the world to send a manned spacecraft by 2022, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Moody confirmed in a speech at an Independence Day ceremony ahead of general elections scheduled for early next year. Moody said his country would send the first manned space mission by 2022, which could make it the fourth country to make the move, after the United States, Russia and China. India has already launched dozens of satellites, mostly for foreign customers, as it seeks to gain a bigger share in the $ 300 billion competitive space industry.
